Popis: Remiz pendulinus complex species belonging to penduline tits or family Remizidae (Aves: passeriformes). There is incongruity about thetaxonomy of the bird and extent of distribution of populations in Iran is unclear. Distribution range of R. pendulinus complex species populationsin the two-year (winter 2012 to winter 2014) surveyed and distribution map of breeding and wintering sites in 19 provinces using GIS wasdeveloped. Two subspecies of R. p. menzbieri and R. p. neglectus are resident in West [and the North-West] and North (Mazandaran) regions, respectively. Subspecies R. p. coronatus is scattered as wintering in North-West of Iran. Subspecies R. p. nigricans in Sistan basin didn’tobserve. Azerbaijan-e-Gharbi, Azerbaijan-e-Sharghi, Ardebil, Zanjan, Qazvin, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, Markazi, Gilan, Mazandaran andGolestan provinces were determined as breeding sites and Khorasan-e-Shomali, Khorasan-e-Razavi, Khorasan-e-Jonubi, Isfahan, Charmahal-va-Bakhtiari, Lorestan, Khuzestan, and Sistan-va-Baluchestan provinces aswintering sites. Breeding sites of the bird are in West [and the North-West] and North regions and wintering sites are in south, east and middleparts of Iran. The two subspecies overlap in a tiny contact zone in the central and western parts of the Mazandaran province, around the Baboland Juibar cities and hybridize together in this area. Also, due to the lack of observation on subspecies R. p. nigricans around the Helmand Riverand Hamun Lake in Sistan basin it seems locally extinction or migration of the subspecies to water resources in Afghanistan which require furtherinvestigation.
