The flavor-changing Higgs-boson vertex {ital q}{sub {ital i}}q{sub {ital j}}H where {ital H} is the Higgs boson and {ital q}{sub {ital i}},{ital q}{sub {ital j}} are quarks with flavors {ital i},{ital j} ({ital i}{ne}{ital j}), respectively, is calculated in the standard model for all values of external and internal masses. It is then used to determine the {ital b}{prime}{r arrow}{ital bH} decay width, where {ital b}{prime} is a charge {minus}(1/3) fourth-family quark. We find that for a range of masses the mode {ital b}{prime}{r arrow}{ital bH} can be very important and even be the dominant decay of the {ital b}{prime}. If the fourth family exists, this decay may provide a way to detect the still elusive Higgs boson. |
