Popis: | Frontal-deafferented female rats with resultant persistent anovulatory syndrome were subjected to pinealectomy and to subsequent treatment with serotonin. Pinealectomy provokes ovulation in previously anovulatory rats bearing frontal deaffrentation. Daily intra-peritoneal administration of either 1 or 10 mg/ kg of serotonin for 30 days counteracted the ovulation-inducing effect of pinealectomy. It is suggested that pinealectomy enhances LH-mobilization via a central serotoninergic mechanism. |
