Popis: | Mycobacterium fortuitum is a rapidly growing, nontuberculous mycobacteria that has rarely been associated with central nervous system impairment. We describe the case of a patient who developed multiple cerebral abscesses revealing Mycobacterium fortuitum infection. Brain biopsy specimens showed suppurative, noncaseating, granulomatous inflammation consisting of epithelioid histiocytes and multinucleated giant cells. All clinical signs and CT scan cerebral lesions disappeared after institution of appropriate antimycobacterial therapy. |
