Popis: | In this review we summarize the research work reported in the last two decades on the use of organic corrosion inhibitors for aluminum and its alloys in different alkaline (mainly NaOH and KOH) and chloride solutions. The focus is on the corrosion inhibitor type and its inhibition effectiveness and mechanism. Moreover, the testing conditions and the methodology used for corrosion inhibition performance evaluation are presented. As seen herein, the most frequently used corrosion inhibitors are the mercapto compounds, azole derivatives, organic dyes, and different polymers. Weight loss and electrochemical techniques were among the most frequently used techniques to evaluate the corrosion inhibition effectiveness of the studied compounds. Keywords: Aluminum, Aluminum alloys, Corrosion inhibitor, Chloride solution, Alkaline solution |
