Commentary: On the water footprint as an indicator of water use in food production

Popis: The water footprint (WF), defined as the volume of water used per unit food produced, is becoming a popular indicator in a variety of assessments that relate food production to water use. The complexities underlying the phrase “water used” already point to the difficulties in computing an indicator with robust and general meaning.
