Popis: | Enterprise digital asset management (DAM) systems arebeginning to be explored in higher education, but littleinformation about their implementation issues is available. This article describes the University of Michigan’sinvestigation of managing and retrieving rich mediaassets in an enterprise DAM system. It includes thebackground of the pilot project and descriptions of itsinfrastructure and metadata schema. Two case studiesare summarized—one in healthcare education, and onein teacher education and research. Experiences with fivesignificant issues are summarized: privacy, intellectual ownership, digital rights management, uncatalogedmaterials backlog, and user interface and integration with other systems. |
