Resilience is a term frequently used nowadays in different contexts, including transportation. However, definitions vary even within sectors. Communities play also a vital role in decision-making that relates to transportation and/or to its infrastructure. This paper presents different views on 'resilience', and 'community resilience' and a practical and participatory methodology on how to build 'community resilience' that may support the development of technologies and/or decisions in transportation. Although the proposed approach was implemented in the context of the Horizon 2020 EU-funded project ‘Search and Rescue’ which concerns disaster management, several of the involved stakeholders constitute also stakeholders in the transportation sector. The pros and cons and thoughts for further improvement or adaptation of the proposed approach are also discussed |
