Popis: In a series of 538 angiographic studies on 400 patients there were 21 complications including 1 death and 1 permanent hemiplegia. All of the remaining complications cleared within 4 days. The evidence suggests that when simultaneous biplane angiography is used, and small quantities of contrast medium are injected, trauma to the artery and subintimal injection of the contrast material are the most common causes of complications, and that true toxic effects of the contrast medium (other than allergic reactions) are rare.
