Popis:	Magneto-acoustic emission (MAE) has been measured in mild steel and nickel bars subjected to uniaxial tensile stress, in a magnetizing field applied either parallel or perpendicular to the stress axis. The results indicate that MAE is capable of deducing the direction of the stress axis.
