Popis: | During a recent introduction of a Hitachi 747 analyser it was noticed that in the presence of high bilirubin concentrations plasma uric acid concentrations were up to 0·1 mmol(L lower than those determined by a Kodak-Ektachem 700 XR analyser, and plasma magnesium (Mg) concentrations were up to 0·5 mmol(L higher than those determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS). The Hitachi 747 analyser produces an 'icteric index' which is determined from a sample blank. Although the icteric index is not an accurate measurement of plasma bilirubin, it may be possible to use this index to correct for interferences in plasma uric acid and magnesium assays. |
