The purpose of this study was to briefly shed light on the historical development of the Idealistic educational philosophy. The researcher used a qualitative methodology for data collection as literature, research, research papers, books, journal articles as a method of documentation. Seven Idealistic educational philosophers were briefly reviewed in order to shed light on their influence in education. Those eminent thinkers were Plato, Augustine, Rene Descartes, George Berkeley, Immanuel Kant, George Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel and Josiah Royce. As an old philosophy, idealism was occasionally labeled as inflexible and traditional. An essential result of this study was that there were no philosophers who ever agreed and settled on every single argument even though they all have agreed on several fundamental principles. |
