Arrangements of osteopenia detection among children and adolescents

Popis: Objective: To optimize diagnosis of disorders of structural and functional state of the bone in children. Patients and methods. The study involved 65 adolescents in the age from 11 to 15 years who were under medical observation with such diagnosis as autonomic dysfunction syndrome, reactive arthritis, functional disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, bronchial asthma in the interictal period and glomerulonephritis without renal insufficiency. The examination included: identification of risk factors and clinical signs of Ca deficiency, assessment of daily needs of Ca in the diet, the study of biological parameters of calcium-phosphorus metabolism, medical history and instrumental methods. Results. A comprehensive study has revealed the presence of osteopenia in half of the surveyed adolescents, the major part form them were boys. Conclusions. The prevalence of osteopenia in adolescent requires systematization and standardization of examination taking into account the risk factors.
