Emotional schemas are core structures that coordinate and organize an individual's emotional experiences. They are the main elements of the therapeutic model developed by the Canadian psychologist Leslie Greenberg, the Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) or Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). This model recognizes the primary role of emotional schemas in structuring the self and, therefore, in the model of humanpsychic functioning. Supported by the bibliographical exploratory research method, this work also covered the studies of the Portuguese neuroscientist António Damásio and his interest, since the 90s, in the neurobiology of emotions and feelings. The approximationbetween the studies by Greenberg and Damásio made it possible to find some gaps, developments, interconnections and complementarities that may be objects of future research on this theme.   |
