Popis: | The conduct of clinical trials in the area of paediatric oncology presents many organisational and ethical challenges. In the first part of this review, the conduct of clinical trials in relation to national organisations such as the United Kingdom Children’s Cancer Study Group (UKCCSG), methodological difficulties such as central review, legislation, general ethical considerations and the impact of current guidelines on individual treatment centres will be outlined. In the second part of this review, methodological and specific ethical considerations for the conduct of the phase I, phase II and phase III trials in paediatric oncology will be discussed, with emphasis on early clinical trials. Finally, the possible impact of future legislation on new therapies will be highlighted. |
