Popis: | A model for elastic scattering introduced recently is shown to give an excellent agreement when fitted simultaneously vs all pp and pp high energy data. The same model is then fitted separately to the pp and to the pp data to see how the asymptotic extrapolation of the low energy pp data compares with that of the high energy data of the pp case. The parameters for the two cases turn out to be slightly different suggesting that other contributions ignored in the fit (like and Odderon) could be at work. Looking only at the projection of total cross sections beyond SSC energies, however, these differences appear totally insignificant, contrary to earlier indications. |
