The methods of small-angle X-ray scattering and thermomechanical analysis were used to study polymers based on 2,4-tolulenediisocyanate, 4,4′-methylene- bis -(3-chloroaniline) and statistical cooligoesters containing 0, 9 and 18 wt% of terephthalate units. Their dispersion and phase structure is controlled by competing intermolecular interactions: as a consequence of the various structures of the chain segments, together with the diaminourea domains in the oligoester matrix, microphase domains enriched in terephthalate units can also exist. The domain structure is described in terms of the model of a defective paracrystalline superlattice. Changes in polymer structure correlate with the manifestations of their thermoelastoplast properties. |
