EnglishThe author examines the convergence of policies in higher education in emerging world powers, particularly in BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa). Considering the balance of forces, positions of power mark and influence the geopolitical space. This way, the possession of relevant capital in economic and political scenarios characterizes the space in which cooperation in technology, education, and training has been placed on the political agenda of the BRICS countries, especially since the economic crisis trigge-red in 2008. In this scenario, the author discusses issues and topics regarding possible convergences that should be built in higher education, with the aim of continuing and strengthening cooperation projects, focusing on priority areas for consolidation of the emerging position of the BRICS countries. It assumes that the regional strategies indicate the construction of a cooperation agenda with an emphasis on research and technology as well as internationalization, education, and training. The analysis of the agenda here proposed is drawn on Bourdieusian concepts of field of forces and capital
