Popis: | The effect of secretin choleresis on hepatic excretion of Telepaque was studied in dogs. Results show that unlike the effects of bile salts, secretin has no influence on the amount of Telepaque excreted per unit time but significantly reduces the concentration of Telepaque in bile. Bile production by the liver and its modification by secretin are discussed. The dilutional effect of secretin on contrast material in bile may explain the variability in the degree of visualization and the occasional nonvisualization noted in normal patients on cholecystography. Thus, inhibition of secretin production during radiographic examination may improve visualization in a number of circumstances. |
