Mandible fractures frequently occur among facial fractures in men and women between the ages of 16 and 30 years [1]. Patient-specific osteosynthesis treatment of the jaw requires extensive biomechanical knowledge. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) has become an essential tool for designing and evaluating osteosynthesis plates based on mechanical stability [2]. The objective of this study was to determine to which degree FEA may provide an accurate prediction of mandible angle (Figure 1) fixation stability through validation in a biomechanical test. |
