Popis: | The triad of sudden abdominal pain, bloody diarrhea, and associated "thumbprinting" changes on early barium enema examination are highly suggestive of ischemic injury to the colon. When these findings rapidly resolve in a patient over 40 years of age, the suspicion of ischemic colitis is heightened. However, in the absence of pain or radiographic abnormalities, colonic ischemia may go unrecognized. In this report we describe a patient in whom colonoscopy with biopsy established ischemic injury as the etiology for painless rectal hemorrhage. |
