Antenna 16-segmented, moderately long, reaching to about base of wing, brownish, paling to yellow distally. Flagellomeres short-ovoid proximally, passing into more elongate distally, with verticils moderately dense, longest ones about 1.5 times as long as their respective flagellomeres. FIGURES 14. Wing. 1: T. (T.) calceata; 2: T. (T.) intermixta; 3: T. (T.) insignis; 4: T. (T.) spathifera sp. n. (photo by J. Rohček). Scale bar 1.0 mm. Thorax. Generally yellow. Pronotum yellow. Prescutum suffused with sparse whitish pruinosity, slightly darkened anteromedially and on scutal lobes. Scutellum pale yellow. Mediotergite brownish. Pleuron generally shiny yellow, pale yellow along paratergite. Wing membrane tinged yellowish, veins mostly yellow. Wing pattern shown by restrictedly darkened (sub)vertical vein elements, especially basal deflection of Rs, R2 (cross-vein r), basal deflection of R5, r-m, basal section of M1+2+3, and m-cu. Venation generally usual for Thaumastoptera s. str. Sc1 ending about opposite half-length of Rs; upper branch of medial fork (M1+2) about 45 times as long as its petiole (Fig. 1). Halter yellow throughout. Legs pale yellow; femora with short dark, apical rings; tibiae restrictedly darkened at base and with short apical ring. Abdomen. Yellow. Male terminalia (Figs. 5, 6) yellow. Segment 9 (basal ring) simple, more or less straight at dorsal posterior margin. Proctiger generally semioval, in part covered with spinulae, with V-shaped median emargination. Gonocoxite moderately long, slightly arched. Gonostylus produced into long, curved, setose beak, directed caudally and narrowly obtuse at apex, and with another obtuse projection on outer margin of gonostylus. Three strong setae on dorsal face of gonostylus. Aedeagus generally long-ovoid, about half length of gonocoxite, bifid distally, with two slender diverging rods. Paramere distinctly exceeding aedeagus, gradually curved and tapered into subacute tip directed medially. Female. Resembling male in general appearance. Distribution. Europe (Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland); Saudi Arabia. Discussion. The species is characterized by indistinct wing pattern shown by restrictedly darkened (sub)vertical vein elements (Fig. 1) and the femora and tibiae with dark apical rings. In contrast to the male terminalia of the other species treated here, T. (T.) calceata has the aedeagus bifid distally, with two slender, diverging rods (Fig. 6). As usual for Thaumastoptera, the male terminalia are highly species-specific, yet having some resemblance with those of T. (T.) intermixta.
