Popis: | Arteriovenous shunts within the spinal canal and in the paraspinal region are unusual. Spinal cord and dural arteriovenous communications have been the subject of numerous reports but paraspinal shunts causing venous congestion in the spinal canal are rarer and may present special problems in diagnosis and management. We describe three children with paraspinal arteriovenous malformations, associated with overt or potential venous congestion in the spinal canal. In each case, the lesion was successfully obliterated by endovascular therapy. Embolisation with permanent occlusive agents is an effective treatment for these rare but potentially debilitating lesions. |
