University, Ajmer-305 009, Rajasthan, India Manuscript received 31 October 2005, revised 26 June 2006, accepted 27 June 2006 Reactions of Mgll, Call, Srll and Ball chlorides with 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde and 2-hydroxybenzophenone, 5-bromosalicylaldehyde or 5-chlorosalicylaldehyde in 1 : 1 : 1 molar ratios have yielded mixed ligand complexes of the type [MLL'(HzO)z] (where M = Mgll, Call, Srll and Ball; HL = 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde and HL' = 2- hydroxybenzophenone, 5-bromosallcylaldehyde or 5-chlorosalicylaldehyde). These complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, TLC, IR and 1H NMR spectra.
