Popis: | Countercurrent concentration mechanisms are described, which produce hypertonic solutions simply by diffusion and osmosis out of two solutions of different composition, e.g. out of a NaCl and a urea solution. The mechanisms are based either on countercurrent diffusion or on a combination of countercurrent diffusion and countercurrent osmosis. It is necessary that the currents in all concentration mechanisms be separated by membranes, which are selectively permeable or impermeable for water, sodium chloride or urea. It is shown, that urea is possibly concentrated by one of these mechanisms. |
