Popis: The aim of this research was to determine basic management data of PTO (Power take off) driven pruning residue chopper. The machines was studied on four different pruned material (grape, pomegranate, orange and avocado) at three different feeding density. Power and energy requirement, average geometric diameter of pruned material were determined along with associated machinery costs. The increased material density raised total power values needed for all plant materials. The highest power requirement values were 28.15, 19.05, 16.82 and 15.66 kW on high density of pruned material from orange, avocado, grape and pomegranate orchards, respectively. Energy requirement values per unit area increased with increasing material density. In grape and pomegranate, energy requirement values of chopped material per unit mass decreased with incresaing feeding density. These values were 5.98, 4.39 and 3.90 kWh t for grape and 5.95, 4.54 and 3.82 kWh t for pomegranate, respectively. In orange and avocado materials, increasing feeding density, first energy requirement values per unit area decreased, then they were increased to the highest densities. These values were 8.11, 6.48 and 8.61 kWh t for orange and 8.48, 5.53 and 7.09 kWh t for avocado, TA R IM B IL IM LE R I D ER G IS I     J O U R N A L O F A G R IC U LT U R A L SC IE N C ES 1 6 (2 01 0) 4 654 Determination of Basic Machinery Management Data for PTO Driven Pruning Residue Chopper, Canakci et al T a r i m B i l i m l e r i D e r g i s i – J o u r n a l o f A g r i c u l t u r a l S c i e n c e s 16 (2010) 46-54 47 respectively. Depending on materials and feeding density, the average geometric diameters of pruned grape, pomegranate, orange and avocado materials ranged from 9.35 to 9.96 mm, 10.41 to 11.04 mm, 12.57 to 13.76 mm and 11.44 to 13.09 mm, respectively. The fixed and variable machine costs were calculated as 1114 TL year and 28.0 TL h, respectively.
