This practice-based inquiry explores how photovoice methods can be used to engage with environmental behaviour in a multi-sited context. Photovoice methods are adapted through a design-based participatory action research approach to explore visualising and influencing environmental behaviour among urban youth in Australia, Bangladesh and China. A mixed-methods analysis of these participatory practices and their visual products affirm the importance of materiality, relationality and empathy to engagement. The research established an original ‘open photovoice’ method that contributes to the design and use of participatory visual practices in behaviour change programs and multi-sited research. |
