Popis: | In recent decades, there have been substantial declines in the morbidity and mortality rates of cardiovascular disease. Nonetheless, cardiologists have sometimes been slow to amend prevailing concepts and alter established clinical strategies even when compelling new evidence comes to light. Recent studies have underscored the systemic nature of coronary artery disease, its early age at onset, and its high prevalence in the general population. Prevention and treatment approaches should fully incorporate these concepts. Furthermore, prevention of the most devastating complications of chronic coronary artery disease-sudden death and acute coronary events-should be given the highest priority. |
