Popis: | Effect of the venom from the brown recluse spider, Loxosceles reclusa Gertsch and Mulaik, against the hemocytes of Acheta domesticus (Linnaeus) was studied. Hemolysis was determined by exact total hemocyte counts of each cricket and by preparing air-dried smears of the hemolymph of several normal and treated crickets. Evidence for a hemolytic effect of venom from L. reclusa was demonstrated. Severe necrosis was noted in many of the venom treated crickets. |
