Popis: | During the last decade, the supply of pediatric radiologists has decreased worldwide. Data from the Society of Pediatric Radiology as well as anecdotal stories from major teaching hospitals confirm that the diminishing supply of pediatric radiologists is creating a growing pool of unfilled jobs. One source of pediatric radiology trainees could be pediatric house staff. At the Children’s Hospital Boston, pediatric residents have expressed to the authors an interest in becoming pediatric radiologists, but have had concerns about the length of time necessary to train as a radiologist beyond the years spent in clinical pediatrics. They wonder why it is necessary to spend time learning skills like mammography, for example, that they would never utilize as a pediatric radiologist. |
