Popis: A series of copolymers containing the cationic polyacrylamide vinylic alkylbromide (CPAV) of different chain length C2, C4, C8 and C10 were prepared and characterized by FT-IR and 1H NMR techniques. The ability and the effect of chain length of quaternization on CPAV to removal the chromate form Cr (VI) in aqueous solutions were also investigated. The chains lengths from C2 to C10 of alkyl bromides affect the retention of Cr (VI). The solubility of copolymers in aqueous solutions decreases with chain length of alkyl bromides which is not the case for polyacrylamide vinylic (PAV) The retention capacity decreases with chains lengths of alkyl bromides. The retention of the cationic polyacrylamide vinylic alkylbromides(CPAV) is 97.27, 76.42, 70.72 and 43.17% for C2, C4, C8 and C10, respectively.
