Popis: | Summary Circular dichroism (CD) was utilized to probe two discrete loci of the ionophore lasalocid A during conformational perturbations associated with complex formation. This required deconvolution of the observed CD spectrum into components arising from the terminal aromatic ring and the medial ketonic carbonyl. The resultant data allowed us to distinguish between formation of true inclusion complexes with small alkali ions and peripheral ion pairing with alkylammonium ions too bulky to enter and perturb the molecular interior. |
