Popis: The different expressions of flexibility require different tools for each measurement, which may generate doubt in the selection of the most appropriate flexibility test. While the literature presents “favorable criteria” for this selection, it does not gather these criteria in the same place nor present a systematization for the selection of the test with greater applicability. Therefore, the objective of this study was to identify the most favorable criteria and develop a method for scoring flexibility tests according to the desired professional application. A literature review considering applicability characteristics identified 15 tests and 13 criteria related to applicability characteristics. Each test was evaluated by five physical education professionals for the presence (score with value “1”) or absence (score with value “0”) of each criterion. Agreement between evaluators was tested (Kappa) and moderate or above agreements were kept (the others eliminated), remaining 10 criteria for evaluation. The average scores of the five reviewers determined the score for each test. No test reached maximum score (10 points); three tests scored less than five (Kruskal-Wallis; p < 0.05); and only two scored more than seven points: Goniometer and Fleximeter. The values of the scores, here assigned arbitrarily, could be adjusted according to the requirement / purpose of each application. The internal consistency (Cronbach’s α) of method in the attribution of scores was substantial (α = 0.67) and presented good agreement (K = 0.44 a 0.81), demonstrating confidence for professionals to ponder their choices for the selection of a flexibility test.
