Popis: A simple example of branching process is used to estimate the probability that a slightly advantageous mutation would become extinct in the population, a probability that, as expected, is proved to be one for a disadvantageous mutation but also for a neutral one. The model is aimed to first year students in Biology, to show the importance of mathematical methods in their field.
