Popis:	This article aims to discuss the António Rodrigues Pereira Labre colonization projectfor the Madeira River Complex and the last Brazilian border between Brazil and Bolivia. Labre has founded a town that takes its name on the banks of the Purus River and endeavoredtoundertaketheprojectofbuildingarailwaylinkingitssettlementtoBolivia andtheUpperMadeiraRiver,insteadoftheproposalofarailroadborderingtheMadeira River. Following his objectives, in his exploratory trips, he also endeavored to describe the region and the indigenous peoples. The sources for the analysis are basically four writings by Labre himself. In addition, this article also uses reports from other explorers and observations from contemporary ethnographers and missionaries. Thus, this paper aims to contribute with understanding of the regional history of the Madeira River Complex,whichislinkedtothehistoryofPurusRiveraswellasthelastBrazilianfrontier colonization anddemarcation
