Popis: | Results are presented to show that protein A from Staphylococcus aureus strain Cowan I elicits the synthesis of rabbit IgG which reacts with protein A through the Fab-region. IgM from an anti-protein A serum obtained 9 days after first injection of antigen appeared to react with crude protein A. It was also found that protein A and protein B are antigenic-ally similar. In addition protein A contains distinctive determinants which appear to be responsible for the binding of protein A to the Fc-region of IgG. |
