Popis: The objective of this work was to evaluate the flow rates of water contribution from the Grande River hydrographic basin to the Sao Francisco River to meet the multiple uses of the water stored in the Sobradinho reservoir. For this, the water balance Grande River hydrographic basin was carried out, adding an interaction between the Grande River and the Urucuia aquifer, due to the strong hydraulic connection of these water bodies and using fluviometric and pluviometric data available for the study area from 2006 to 2016, as well as water use rights purposes in Grande River basin and in the stretch of the Sao Francisco River. The minimum flows that the Grande river delivers to the Sao Francisco river channel were evaluated based on the simulation of alternatives for prioritizing water demands, using the computational tool WEAP. The minimum flows that the Grande River delivers to the Sao Francisco river’ gutter were evaluated based on the simulation of alternatives for prioritizing water demands, using the computational tool WEAP. The assessment of the water balance involving the Grande river basin and the Sao Francisco river’ gutter downstream from the confluence of these two rivers, indicated that the flow of contribution from affluent rivers to the main river gutter is configured in an important water supply for the feasibility of meeting several water demands in the hydrographic basin. In the case of the study, this importance was reinforced by the connectivity between the Grande river and the Urucuia aquifer, signaling the need to detail the water balance by quantifying this connection between surface and groundwater.
