ISOLATION of numerous fungi viz. Aspergillus niger, A. fumigatus, A. nigrescens, A. flavus, A. candidus, Rhizopus nigrecans, R. microsporum, Penicillium glaucum, Mucor recemosus, M. corymbifera, Diploid spp., Cladosporium spp., Mortierella spp., Saccharomyces spp., Paecilomyces spp., Cephalosporium spp., Trichoderma spp., Scopulariopsis spp., Phycomycetes spp., Curvularia spp., Streptomyces spp., Sepedonium spp., and Trichosporon spp., has been reported from the respiratory tract (R.T.) of fowl (Guberlet, 1923; Thompson and Fabian, 1932; Baker et al., 1934; Otero and Koppisch, 1934; Mundt, 1963; Jordon, 1954; Chute et al., 1956; Kiss and Kelentey, 1960; Stock, 1961; Horter and Hunsteger, 1962; and Dayanand and Sethi, 1966). In the present investigation isolation of fungal flora from R.T. of healthy and from the dead fowls, received from the University Poultry Farm for routine post-mortem, was undertaken.
