Popis: | Introduction: Tinnitus, the perception of sound in the absence of an external sound stimulus, has a negative impact on affected individuals. The practice of physical exercise can exert a positive effect on these subjects. Objective: To assess the impact of tinnitus on elderly practitioners and non-practitioners of physical activity, considering age and gender. Methods: In this cross-sectional, quantitative, and comparative study, 38 elderly subjects with tinnitus were evaluated by the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory after being divided into two groups with 19 subjects in each: practitioners (G1) and non-practitioners (G2) of physical exer - cise. The data were analyzed by quantitative statistical methods. Results: It was observed that the impact of tinnitus on G1 elderly subjects was lower. Gender influenced the results in the intergroup comparison that was carried out, but age had an influence only in G1. Conclusion: The impact of tinnitus was lower in elderly practitioners of physical activity, and the age and the gender partially influenced the results. |
