Popis: Department of Chemistry, University of Dhaka, Dhaka 2, Bangladesh Manuscript received 4 July 1986, accepted 26 November 1986 The preparation of lithium(triphenylsilyl)phenylcopper, its stannyl analogue and lithium(triphenyisilyl)methylcopper is reported. These reagents do not give a positive response to the Gilman colour test-I. The reaction of lithium(triphenylsilyl)pbenylcopper with methyl iodide gives toluene (33%) and triphenylmethylsilane (32%), with benzyl chloride the same reagent gives diphenyImethane (100%), and with benzoyl chloride, it gives triphenylaityl phenyl ketone (25%) and benzophenone (19%).
