Popis: | Background: Adenocarcinoma of rete testis is an extremely rare diagnosis described in around 70 patients worldwide. The prognosis of the disease in metastatic stage is very poor and there is no standard systemic treatment. Case: Hereby we present for the first time a case report of a 47 years old man with metastatic adenocarcinoma of rete testis who achieved substantial response to four cycles of paclitaxel, ifosfamide and cisplatin. Chemotherapy was given in 5 day regimens, which comprised of 250 mg/m 2 of paclitaxel on day one, 20 mg/m 2 of cisplatin on day one to five and 1,2 g/m 2 of ifosfamide on day one to five, given 22 days apart. Pegfilgrastim was used in prophylactic setting after each cycle of TIP. Treatment was tolerated well without significant toxicity. Result: Patient achieved partial remission lasting for 14 months. Conclusion: On basis of this experience we imply, that paclitaxel, ifosfamide and cisplatin might be novel, active agents to suggest in rete testis adenocarcinoma treatment. |
