| Popis: | Calcification of the mitral anulus is a degenerative change, mainly in older patients. Several potential complications are associated with mitral annular calcification (MAC): acquired mitral stenosis, mitral regurgitation, embolic phenomenon, arrhythmias, conduction defects, and endocarditis. With the advent of echocardiography permitting ready identification of MAC, this entity and many of its concomitant complications are now being recognized earlier in its natural history. |
