The heavy-fermion superconductors show the most significant differences from conventional superconductors. Heavy fermions are compounds containing rare-earth or actinide ions whose f-shell electrons are strongly correlated. The theories presented in this paper were developed mainly to describe effects in heavy fermion superconductors.
