| Popis: | The article discusses the most common lexical and syntax mistakes made when writing research articles mechanically. When talking about lexical mistakes, incorrect loan-translations prevail in technical research language. One of the most common loan translation verbs is to "influence". The second group of lexical errors consists of words used in wrong meaning. One of the most frequent cases of the latter group observed in technical research language are to "provoke" and "to feed", as well as verb "to assign and its forms", verb "to satisfy", adjective "full" and adverb "fully". The third group of lexical mistakes comprises incorrect foreign words, which usually are represented in scientific language by foreign, incorrect terms. Probably most syntax mistakes are made when using verbal nouns with suffixes -imas and -ymas. Most mistakes are made when using dative case (when purpose is expressed) and locative case (when the field of manifestation is expressed) of the above-mentioned abstracts. Of incorrect use of prepositions, three prepositions: prie (near), nuo (from), virš (above) are most common. It should be noted that "prie" (near) constructions should not be used to express mode, cause, condition and concession circumstances. Preposition "nuo" (from) is incorrectly used with treatment and waste removal verbs, while preposition "virš" (above) should not be used to express excess of quantity, weight, distance and time duration. Frequent mistakes are made when instrumental case of noun "pagalba" (help) is used to express means of action. Another syntax mistake belonging to major language mistakes is incorrect use of infinitive with conjunction "kad" (in order) to express purpose and cause in subordinate sentences. |
