Popis: | In general, the treatment of animals with 5-azacytidine (1-β-D-ribofuranosly-4-amino- s -triazine-2(1 H )-one) was found to lead to a specific reduction of the 5-methylcytidine (m5C) content of tRNA in tissues, e.g. liver, hepatoma, mammary tumor, and spleen; however, the effect of the drug on post-transcriptional tRNA modification was more general in lymph nodes and in leukemic cells. Many base modifications of L1210 cell tRNA were inhibited, with m5C and dihydrouridine (hU) being affected the most. A positive correlation existed between the extent of inhibition of the formation of m5C and other modified nucleosides and the antitumor activity of the drug. |
