Popis: Object and purpose of research. This work analyses the comparative results of the study of the vessel’s crash-stop. This vessel is alternately equipped with FPPs and adaptive-pitch propellers. It is shown that the equipping of vessels with adaptive-pitch propellers is more appropriate, among other things, because of shorter crash-stop distance, as compared to the vessels with FPP propulsion. These results can be useful in choosing the type of ship's propulsion system at the initial stages of its design. Materials and methods. Experimental data on the hydrodynamic characteristics of propellers, including crash-stop conditions, were used. Main results. The obtained data can be used to select the propeller of the designed vessel. Conclusion. It is shown that adaptive-pitch propeller is more efficient crash-stop tool in comparison with FPP.
