Popis:	An apparatus for melting agar suspensions, before their being dispensed into smaller portions for sterilization, has been developed. The apparatus senses the temperature of the agar, and automatically removes the heating unit when the agar reaches 96C. Compared with conventional methods, less personal attention is required, and the probability of suspensions boiling over is avoided. The performances of several microbiological media prepared using the apparatus were equal to those prepared by conventional methods.
