Present study deals with an approach to investigatethe change in Absorbing Aerosol Index (AAI) within theIndian region using GOME-2 satellite data and the impactof wind speed on AAI using geospatial technique.AAI is the elevated absorbing aerosols in the tropospherewhich is investigated in the present study for last 5 yearsfrom September-December months. Many researcheshad notified that the absorbing aerosols particles are increasingin the northern part of the country especially inthe last months of every year due to the anthropogenicfactors like biomass burning of crop residues, crackersburning etc. and the slow wind speed in that season elevatesthe impact even more. Presently, we observed theper day wind data from 2013-2017 to see the impact ofwind speed on AAI and it is observed that the wind speedis lowest in the last four months of each year comparedto the other months and that causing the aerosols particleto move slowly and affecting the atmosphere most. The trend of the AAI is analyzed and it is estimated thatthe intensity of AAI is increasing gradually every year, from 0.52 in November 2013 it increased up to 1.66 inNovember 2017. Monthly AAI is observed and it is seenthat the value of AAI is the highest in November monthof every year with a continuous increasing trend. |
