Popis: X-ray therapy of cancer of the uterine neck (intracavitary and remote) is one of the main stages of treatment. The intracavitary irradiation is carried out fractionally (4-10 fractions) with insertion of sources in a radiopaque capsule to the uterine cavity (1-5 sources) and in lateral arches (1 source). Remote exposure is carried out with photon (gamma, accelerators) radiation using fields from 10 × 10 to 16 × 18 cm. The set dose is implemented using multiple (from 2 to 8 fields) and rotational methods. In modern dosimetric practice, dose-volume histograms are built for all surrounding healthy tissues. Only these histograms allow size of modal doses that characterize the damage to irradiated bodies to be established. The concept of modal dose of radiation is used in radiobiological practice because it characterizes the degree of irradiation of the greatest number of cells. Modal doses and conditions of their formation are considered in this work in the context of different techniques of remote exposure of the uterine neck. Further insight into this problem is provided by an overview of human body reactions to modal doses at different methods of remote exposure.
