This has generated more waste that can endanger groundwater and water quality. The aim of this study was to perform a diagnosis of the quality of the water consumed in Cazumba and Sabonete, both in the 5th district of Sao Joao da Barra, RJ. Using data collected in the survey, an environmental education project was developed. This problem, common to local students, school and community, can be used as a starting point for a discussion on environment and health. By showing students analytical data on water consumed by them at school or home, the information can be used to discuss the issue within the public health sphere, as well as demand better water quality from public agencies.
